This year for our anniversary we decided to go to Franskraal for a few days. We thought about going somewhere new but then decided on the holiday house because we really just wanted to have a relaxing time. It was an awesome few days. We left on Wednesday and came home today, Saturday. We spent the time exploring Hermanus, Gansbaai Standord and even took a drive to what we think is the southern most beach. It was at the border of the Cape Agulhas nature reserve, so I think it’s a pretty good assumption. The rest of the time was spent waking on the beach, snuggling, eating a lot of yummy food and just spending quality time together.
Stopping at the old whaling harbour in Hermanus. It reminded me a bit of our honeymoon where we sat and watched waves for an eternity as a storm brewed out over the ocean.
The beach we found, which we think is the southern most beach of Africa.
Sometime you just need to let your inner kid come out and have an afternoon at a park. There’s also a tidal pool that is shallow enough for toddlers to play in. What I like about the tidal pool is the grass. In summer this is a great place to lie in the sun and read when the wind makes the beach unbearable.
Another great way to bring out your inner child is to play Pictionary – it’s a lot easier than I imagined.
On Friday we headed to The Tasting Room at Stanford Hills for lunch. The view and service was so amazing we stayed a bit longer to do the wine tasting and walk around their vineyards. We’ll definitely be back here. We ended of the day with ice-cream at the beach in Franskraal.
The whole mini holiday was my favourite part because I got to spend it with my favourite person.
