Joy injection

a little bit of crazy

This past month has been a hard month for me which has left me feeling a bit despondent regarding Gods plan for my life, His purpose for me and ever getting to “the promised land”. There have been numerous moments this month where I’ve just cried out to God for break through or for Him to just reveal the point of me being where I am, or even why I have to go through any of this. I also think being sick for most of winter has not helped with the feelings of despondency, it’s kind of just added to […]

Sometimes it’s okay to cheat a little…

a little bit of crazy

Cake is taken very seriously in our office… so seriously that you can’t just bring the average cake when it’s your birthday. The standard was set way before I started working here and I think it’s best to just stick with the standard. It was my birthday on the 13th, which was a Saturday so I chose the Thursday after my birthday to bring cake. When deciding on what type of cake to bring, I tossed the idea of buying a cake from somewhere or making one around in my head. Buying a cake is never guaranteed greatness but neither is […]

2 ingredient chocolate tart

a little bit of crazy chocolate tart

I found this super quick two ingredient chocolate tart recipe on Food24 about two weeks ago. I’ve made it twice now and it’s pretty flop proof. What I like about it is that you can use white, milk or dark chocolate for it, it’s quick and very easy. It’s also banting, so if you have friends who don’t eat carbs you can make this for tea when they come over. Ingredients 4 eggs separated 180g chocolate, (white, milk or dark) What to do I used Lint dark chocolate when I made it so it wasn’t too sweet. Preheat oven to […]

I don’t think I ever want pets again

After having Mimi stay for a few weeks and then looking after my Champ dog and Bambino at my mom’s house for a week and a bit I really don’t think I want to have pets one day soon. They are super cute and I love them all, especially my Champ dog as though he was a real child but they are a lot of hard work. see.. they are cute but the one thing I really don’t enjoy about having pets is how they leave hair everywhere and how they can be a bit needy. I also don’t like […]

How to soften butter

a little bit of crazy

I either forget to take the butter out of the fridge hours before I start baking or our house is way to cold for it to become soft. Hard butter is not ideal for making icing – you end up with butter clumps. Last week I wanted to bake so I decided to Google how to soften butter. I came across Emma Christensen’s website, “The Kitchn” and she suggests the following three ways of softening butter; Cut the butter into small chunks: Small chunks soften much more quickly than the whole stick, especially if placed near the warming stove. Pound the butter: Put the […]

Reflections on turning 30

a little bit of crazy 30 birthday

I turned 30 this weekend and it doesn’t really feel any different than 29 to be honest… Or even 25, which if you know me is the age I’ve chosen to stay for the last five years. It had to do with the fact that I could never remember my age when filling in forms or answering the question, “how old are you”. Deep down I firmly believe that age is just a number and you’re as old as you let yourself feel. The other day while having a wax, Claire the lady who does my waxes was asking me […]

Rainbow cupcakes

a little bit of crazy rainbow cupcakes

It was my bestie’s birthday on the 30th of July and she was having a rainbow themed party. We saw these rainbow cupcakes on Pinterest and I offered to make them for her. All I needed to do was find the rainbow belt things. I had never seen them before until I walked into a sweet factory shop, this shop is amazing. If I ever need to buy sweets and chips in bulk this will be the place to go. I have found the rainbow belts in three different places since I bought them, but now I know for next […]

Real connection

Sometimes I wonder what we would do without social media. I also wonder if we would know as much about people and what’s going on in their lives without Facebook or Instagram. Do we even rely too much on social media to get our message out there to let people know what’s going on in our lives? Sometimes I think we may know more about whats going on in peoples lives without social media. I say this because it would mean people would actually talk to each other, call each other up and say “hey, this is what’s going on […]

10 minutes later and your sweet potato is ready

a little bit of crazy

This quick trick revolutionized the way I cook sweet potatoes.  Every time I wanted to have sweet potato for supper I always changed my mind because I knew it would take like a hundred  years to cook in the oven, well an hour to be honest. I then though there has to be a quicker way, so I Googled “quick cooking sweet potato”. Let me share with you what I found on how to cook a sweet potato in 10 minutes. Take one sweet potato and scrub under running water or in the sink with some water – be water […]

When God is silent

a little bit of crazy

I was chatting to someone recently who asked me a question about why God is silent/not giving her an answer about something. I didn’t really know the answer… Even when God is silent with me, I’m like “whhhhhhyyyyyy?” I decided to think about it and do a little reading. Here’s what I have come up with… The first step in finding out why I’m not hearing God is to always ask Him if there us any unconfessed sin in my life, (kind of like seeking my heart), and then to work through it and ask for forgiveness. I also find […]
