Trail running – what I learnt from race 1

A little bit of crazy_In the world_trail running

On Sunday David and I attempted out first trail run. It was more of a hike in the sense that the uphill bits were super steep and continuous. We eventually gave up on running and hiked up them. The climb was INSANE – especially the 500m climb we had to do after 7km. I was like “no!” but we pushed through and we made it to the top. The trail run we did was at the Funky Fynbos Festival in Gansbaai this past weekend. Last year we did the mountain bike race which has scared me from ever cycling on the […]

Chocolate Crunchies

A little bit of crazy_In the kitchen_crunchie recipe

I attempted to make chocolate chip crunchies last night. The chocolate melted and turned them into crunchies with a hint of chocolate but after a quick taste test this morning by David and myself the general consensus is that they are yummy. Earlier this week I told David that I would make some crunchies without realising how busy this week was going to turn out to be so last night at 9pm I started making crunchies… thank goodness the recipe I found on Sam Linsell’s blog was super easy and quick to make. I just added the chocolate chips at the […]

We had a cupcake party

a little bit of crazy katherine bodmer blog

This past Saturday we had a bit of a cupcake party at the Fancy Flamingos. I got the bible study from More Be To and linked it with the Mosaic bible study that we have just finished working through. Mosaic was all about how God has created us with different talents, characteristics and personalities, as well as how He uses our experiences to shape us into the women of God he wants us to be. It goes on to explain how we also need each other to shine His colour into our worlds – kind of like we’re a small part of […]

Rawsonville weekend away

katherine Bodmer blog, a little bot of crazy

David and I went on an adventure over the Du Toit Kloof pass last weekend. We stayed at a really nice guest house called De Eike. It can be found just outside of Rawsonville, which really is a one horse town. There’s not even cellphone signal, which was a bit of challenge for me but I think by Sunday I was fine with that. On Friday we popped into the  Du Toitskloof Winery to do some wine tasting. We tasted three white wines and three red wines for free. We then bought one white and one red bottle of wine, which I […]

Brinjal with basil pesto

a little bit of crazy katherine bodmer blog

I don’t really like brinjal but I hear that it’s good for you and if you camouflage the taste it can be quite nice. The other day we had one of these purple vegetables in our fridge so I decided to cook it before it went off. I washed it, then sliced it into rings – next time I think I’ll slice it long ways. I then placed it on a paper towel and sprinkled salt on to it. You then need to leave it to sit for about 15 – 20 minutes so all the bitterness gets drawn out, (as I […]

God DOES give you more than you can handle

I’m busy reading Katie Davis book, Kisses from Katie. Her story is really amazing, you can read more about her and her ministry here. On Saturday while I was reading I was really challenged by something she said and after thinking it through I totally agree with here.  Katie said, “God always gives you more than you can handle so that His glory can be shown“. I have a bit of a background where the saying; “God never gives you more than you can handle” is a common expression. Actually this is not true. If God never gave us more than we […]

God totally healed me

a little bit of crazy katherine bodmer blog

For the last two weeks my ribs have been incredibly sore. Last week it was so bad I went to the doctor and was told I that my intercostal muscles had gone into spasm from all the coughing I’ve been doing. I couldn’t do normal things like bend down and pick up something it way to  sore. On Monday I was like enough is enough and  I asked God to heal me. We then prayed for healing at cell group that evening. We asked God to fix whatever was going on with my ribs and muscles. When David and I went […]

Super quick breakfast

a little bit of crazy katherine bodmer blog

I have just discovered one of the quickest and easiest to make breakfasts ever. It also contains two of my favourite ingredients, avo and cheese, which is an added bonus. I’m not sure what to call it… an avo egg cup? Here’s how to make it. You will need: 1 ripe avo 2 eggs grated cheese salt and pepper or any other seasoning you would like. Here’s what to do: Cut the avo in half and remove the pip. If it’s a small pip you may have to remove some avo from the middle. Crack the egg into the middle […]

Banoffee Pie

It was my beautiful and super talented friend’s birthday last week. Zulfa also decided on a tea party for her 30th and when I offered to make something she asked me to make a Banoffee pie. Before this conversation with her I had never heard of a Banoffee pie, so I asked her for a recipe. She sent me one from the Nestle Carnation website. Making a banoffee pies was quite hard for me mostly because I am not a fan of sugar cookery, but all in this was a fun recipe to try even though my pie did not come out quite […]
