Edible Finger Paint Fun

edible finger paint toddler activities

Near the end of last month my friends had a play date for our littlies. I offered to host it at my house – it was lots of fun. For the play date I visited my go to place on the internet for some creative fun that they could have. I found this great recipe for edible finger paint – it’s also super east to make which is an added bonus.  Here’s the recipe; 1 x box of instant pudding food colouring of your choice.  Make the instant pudding as per the directions on the box. Add the food colouring […]

less comparison and judging… more seeking out the gold

We live in a crazy world that’s filled with comparison. I often find myself comparing myself to other women thinking she’s prettier than me, she’s a better mom than me, she looks better in that dress than me, she sings better than me… And so the list can go on. Comparison has the potential to open a can of worms that can take you down a rabbit hole where you just end up feeling sorry for yourself. When we compare ourselves to other people we also open the door to be judgmental about them. We may look at someone and […]

7 months of being a mom

I think I was told at least once a month that time goes really quickly and before I know it Noah will be grown up while I was still pregnant. I don’t think I really believed it until Noah was four months old and I was returning to work at the end of my maternity leave. Jump ahead three months and Noah is almost seven months old. In some ways it feels like just the other day I was painting my toenails pink before my last doctors appointment where we actually got to meet our sweet baby lion. In other […]

Noah’s Dedication

On Sunday, 4 February it was a year ago that I stood in the bathroom with my third pregnancy test waiting impatiently for it to confirm if I really was pregnant. The first two tests that I had used the night before were cheap ones from Clicks. They both showed a faint second pink line. I then went a bought a Clearblue pregnancy test thinking it would be the most accurate of the tests. I remember watching it flash and then screen said “2 – 3 weeks pregnant”. It was the most exciting, overwhelming feeling in the world seeing the […]

Live like you’re loved…

Chaana Ashworth Photography

What would it take for you to live like you are loved, just that way you are right now – in this moment? If I were to be brutally honest I don’t think I have an answer for this question. The reason for this is because the thought of being loved just as I am seems to be something that can’t be attained. It’s almost like there is always something in the way, well thoughts of how I can be a better person or be more pretty etc. before I can be loved or liked.  Deep down we all want […]

Advent – 25 Names of Jesus

Christmas is my second favourite holiday of the year, my number one favourite holiday is Easter. I love Christmas that Christmas is about spending time with family and friends, but that’s not why it’s my second favorite holiday. I love it because it’s about the celebration of Jesus’ birth. If he wasn’t born we wouldn’t have Easter – the whole reason he was born, so save us and so we could have a relationship with God. When it comes to celebrating Christmas I think that it’s important to focus on the real reason behind it and not get suctioned into […]

Honouring your husband

honour husband

For a while now I’ve been thinking about honour and what it really means to honour your husband. The more I thought about it the more I realised that submission is only possible if you honour your husband. If you Google the definition of honour words like “high respect”, “great esteem” and “regard with great respect” come up. My understanding of honouring someone is to look for the gold in them. In other words see them how God has made them. Seeing someone this way can be challenging especially when they don’t behave in a way that lines up with […]

My number 1 moment from the last 10 days

The past 10 days have been quite a whirlwind of figuring out how to do the practical things when it comes to being a mom. Before the 6th of October I had only ever changed maybe two nappies rather awkwardly and maybe dressed a toddler, but I had never changed a poo nappy, breast fed, bathed or dressed a baby. It’s been a learning curve –one that can be overwhelming and scary all at the same time. What makes it so overwhelming is that my baby is so small and seems so fragile that I don’t want to hurt him. […]

Welcome Baby Noah

On Friday, 6 October 2017 baby Noah made his appearance into the world. God was just so faithful in how He was present and in control of everything during the birth. The final week before Noah’s birth was the hardest and longest – I literally felt like he had tripled in size since the week before. I felt SO heavy and was more than ready for our little boy to come out and meet us. That Thursday afternoon I developed quite a bad headache – I assumed it was the start of a migraine which is normal for me to […]

Baby Noah, we can’t wait to meet you

Maternity Shoot

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens” Ecclesiastes 3:1. I’m really excited for the new season that David and I are about to start in a few weeks time as parents. We’re as ready as we think we can be for Baby Noah to arrive. I can’t wait to hold our new bundle of “boyness” and kiss his toes. I  can’t wait to see what his personality and character will be like or discover what food he likes, I hope he’s not as fussy an eater as me, or what he likes to […]
