Advent – 25 Names of Jesus

Christmas is my second favourite holiday of the year, my number one favourite holiday is Easter. I love Christmas that Christmas is about spending time with family and friends, but that’s not why it’s my second favorite holiday. I love it because it’s about the celebration of Jesus’ birth. If he wasn’t born we wouldn’t have Easter – the whole reason he was born, so save us and so we could have a relationship with God. When it comes to celebrating Christmas I think that it’s important to focus on the real reason behind it and not get suctioned into […]

Strawberry and Peach Muffins

strawberry and peach muffins

I had some strawberries and peaches that were about to be too over ripe to eat. I really hate throwing away food so I went to Google and asked it for a peach muffin recipe. I then just added the strawberries and hoped that it will work… And it did. I’ve found a new website for recipes and I love it. This is the second time I’ve used Genius Kitchen for a recipe. Here’s the recipe for theses yummy muffins, including the added amount for the strawberries. Ingredients 1 1⁄2 cups flour 3⁄4 teaspoon salt 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda 1⁄2 […]

Honouring your husband

honour husband

For a while now I’ve been thinking about honour and what it really means to honour your husband. The more I thought about it the more I realised that submission is only possible if you honour your husband. If you Google the definition of honour words like “high respect”, “great esteem” and “regard with great respect” come up. My understanding of honouring someone is to look for the gold in them. In other words see them how God has made them. Seeing someone this way can be challenging especially when they don’t behave in a way that lines up with […]

My number 1 moment from the last 10 days

The past 10 days have been quite a whirlwind of figuring out how to do the practical things when it comes to being a mom. Before the 6th of October I had only ever changed maybe two nappies rather awkwardly and maybe dressed a toddler, but I had never changed a poo nappy, breast fed, bathed or dressed a baby. It’s been a learning curve –one that can be overwhelming and scary all at the same time. What makes it so overwhelming is that my baby is so small and seems so fragile that I don’t want to hurt him. […]

Welcome Baby Noah

On Friday, 6 October 2017 baby Noah made his appearance into the world. God was amazingly faithful in how He was totally showed up and was in control of the Noah’s delivery. One Thursday afternoon I got quite a bad headache that only eased off a little bit after taking some Panado. I assumed it was the start of a migraine – I usually get them this time of year when the seasons change. On Friday morning my headache was still there which was a little bit worrying but since I was seeing the gynea at 11am I thought I […]

We made a little potjiekos

Potjiekos recipe

A while a go, before May this year David and I decided to attempt some potjie kos. I did what I usually do when I decided to try and make something new – I Googled a bunch of recipes until I found one I liked and then decided to change it a little bit. Now that I had the recipe we needed to set a date and then invite some people round for supper to help us eat all that food. I used the following Boland Lamb Potjie recipe found on http://www.potjiekosworld.com/lamb-potjie-recipes/boland-lamb-potjie/print/ Instead of lamb I used beef potjie kos […]

Baby Noah, we can’t wait to meet you

Maternity Shoot

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens” Ecclesiastes 3:1. I’m really excited for the new season that David and I are about to start in a few weeks time as parents. We’re as ready as we think we can be for Baby Noah to arrive. I can’t wait to hold our new bundle of “boyness” and kiss his toes. I  can’t wait to see what his personality and character will be like or discover what food he likes, I hope he’s not as fussy an eater as me, or what he likes to […]

Seeking God

seeking god, experiencing god

“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8. I think this is often one of those verses that we like to quote when people ask how they can experience more of God in their lives. It’s one of those “nice” verses that seem easy to do. It also seems easy – draw near to God – in other words go and spend time with Him. Do we know what this really means? Do we even know what this really looks like if we were to go and do it? I’m not sure if we do, […]

Pause a little…

Something like this has happened to me in ages – but it reminded me of something. I really should be more in tune with or aware of what God is doing around me instead of just rushing around doing the day to day things I do. I was walking back to the office earlier and I was chatting to George, our resident car guard. We often chat about random things before the conversation turns to the important things like food. We often give the car guards the left over lunch from work. Unfortunately today there wasn’t. After I said goodbye […]
