On Saturday night my girlfriends and I had a Galentines day dinner and I made a chocolate tart by NoMU.
When I started making it I thought it was the other chocolate tart that I make – my two ingredient chocolate tart. I should have realized they were different recipes since this one had more than two ingredients. I only noticed when I was mixing in the eggs that it was different.
Here’s the recipe for the one I made this weekend.
You will need
- 60g unsalted butter
- 200g NoMU Hot Chocolate Chunks – I used 300g dark chocolate
- 5 large eggs, separated
- Pinch of NoMU Sea Salt
- 150g caster sugar
- 1 tsp NoMU Vanilla Extract
Preheat your oven to 180°C. Line a 22cm cake tin with baking paper and grease well. Place the butter and NoMU Hot Chocolate in a saucepan and melt over a low heat. Set aside to cool slightly. Whisk the egg whites to soft peak stage. Add the salt then gradually add the sugar and whisk to stiff peak stage.
Add the egg yolks to the cooled chocolate mixture one at a time, whisking well between each addition. Stir in the NoMU Vanilla Extract. Using a large metal spoon, add half of the egg whites to the mixture and fold in carefully, then gently fold in the remaining egg whites.
Pour the mixture into the prepared tin and bake for 25 minutes or until a crust has formed on the surface of the tart. Take care not to over-bake, the centre should have a mousse-like texture. Cool before removing from the tin and serving.
This is also a super quick and easy chocolate tart to make – definitely a make again when I need to bring dessert to lunch or dinner party.
