Painting with ice

Toddler activities

I love searching Pinterest for fun things to do with toddlers. Especially since I have limited ideas of what I can do with a very busy little boy. I stumbled on this idea – painting with coloured ice blocks and it was great. You will need Water Jug Food colouring Sucker sticks Ice block tray Mix a few drops of food colouring in the jug with some water. Pour it into the ice block tray, add a sucker stick and pop it into the freezer for a few hours or until it is frozen. I put Noah in his high […]

17 months of Noah

17 months of Noah. 17 months of being a mom. 17 months of experiencing a new kind of joy in my life, my family and my home. 17 months of not having a tidy house. 17 months of chaos. 17 months of challenges, learning and so much goodness. Looking back on the past 17 months I can say I have learnt how to be more patient. I have learnt how live a little slower. I have learnt to get down on my hands and knees and view the world from Noah’s perspective. It has been soooooo good to learn all […]

When hope shines through

Sometimes you can stand in a room surrounded by people you know and feel alone. Sometimes you can get completely overwhelmed by the simple tasks of the day. Sometimes life can feel like you’re just living inside of a black hole. A few months ago this is how life felt for me. Some how I had slipped into a black hole of depression without realising it. I can’t pin point what caused it or when it started but before long everything I did felt like it was difficult. I would get completely overwhelmed by something as small as packing the […]

Edible Finger Paint Fun

edible finger paint toddler activities

Near the end of last month my friends had a play date for our littlies. I offered to host it at my house – it was lots of fun. For the play date I visited my go to place on the internet for some creative fun that they could have. I found this great recipe for edible finger paint – it’s also super east to make which is an added bonus.  Here’s the recipe; 1 x box of instant pudding food colouring of your choice.  Make the instant pudding as per the directions on the box. Add the food colouring […]

less comparison and judging… more seeking out the gold

We live in a crazy world that’s filled with comparison. I often find myself comparing myself to other women thinking she’s prettier than me, she’s a better mom than me, she looks better in that dress than me, she sings better than me… And so the list can go on. Comparison has the potential to open a can of worms that can take you down a rabbit hole where you just end up feeling sorry for yourself. When we compare ourselves to other people we also open the door to be judgmental about them. We may look at someone and […]

7 months of being a mom

I think I was told at least once a month that time goes really quickly and before I know it Noah will be grown up while I was still pregnant. I don’t think I really believed it until Noah was four months old and I was returning to work at the end of my maternity leave. Jump ahead three months and Noah is almost seven months old. In some ways it feels like just the other day I was painting my toenails pink before my last doctors appointment where we actually got to meet our sweet baby lion. In other […]

Noah’s Dedication

On Sunday, 4 February it was a year ago that I stood in the bathroom with my third pregnancy test waiting impatiently for it to confirm if I really was pregnant. The first two tests that I had used the night before were cheap ones from Clicks. They both showed a faint second pink line. I then went a bought a Clearblue pregnancy test thinking it would be the most accurate of the tests. I remember watching it flash and then screen said “2 – 3 weeks pregnant”. [easy-image-collage id=2525] It was the most exciting, overwhelming feeling in the world […]

Live like you’re loved…

Chaana Ashworth Photography

What would it take for you to live like you are loved, just that way you are right now – in this moment? If I were to be brutally honest I don’t think I have an answer for this question. The reason for this is because the thought of being loved just as I am seems to be something that can’t be attained. It’s almost like there is always something in the way, well thoughts of how I can be a better person or be more pretty etc. before I can be loved or liked.  Deep down we all want […]

Advent – 25 Names of Jesus

Christmas is my second favourite holiday of the year, my number one favourite holiday is Easter. I love Christmas that Christmas is about spending time with family and friends, but that’s not why it’s my second favorite holiday. I love it because it’s about the celebration of Jesus’ birth. If he wasn’t born we wouldn’t have Easter – the whole reason he was born, so save us and so we could have a relationship with God. When it comes to celebrating Christmas I think that it’s important to focus on the real reason behind it and not get suctioned into […]

Honouring your husband

honour husband

For a while now I’ve been thinking about honour and what it really means to honour your husband. The more I thought about it the more I realised that submission is only possible if you honour your husband. If you Google the definition of honour words like “high respect”, “great esteem” and “regard with great respect” come up. My understanding of honouring someone is to look for the gold in them. In other words see them how God has made them. Seeing someone this way can be challenging especially when they don’t behave in a way that lines up with […]
